Friendly Calls Program

Senior Connection began offering friendly calls during COVID-19 to make sure our clients were safe and sound during a very unsteady time.  From the wonderful feedback we received, we decided to make permanent this program.  

For any interested clients, please contact Barb at 301-962-1049 or barbphelan@seniorconnection.org to join the program.  We will need to know how many times per month you want to receive a friendly call.  Please know that calls will be placed by Barb and other trained volunteers.

For any interested volunteers, please reach out to Barb at 301-962-1049 or barbphelan@seniorconnection.org.  Completion of an additional brief training session is necessary to be a caller.  This additional training session is conducted virtually by Stephanie Svec, Director of Seniors’ Services at Affiliated Santé Group.  Ms. Svec has worked in the behavioral health industry for 20 years and with the Affiliated Santé Group since 2011. Among her many roles is that of certified Mental Health First Aid Trainer, where she gets the opportunity to train individuals who work with seniors.  As part of Senior Connection’s training, Ms. Svec reviews how to be helpful through simply talking and listening as well as setting and maintaining healthy boundaries with clients.
