Welcome to The Senior Connection

The Mission of The Senior Connection of Montgomery County, Inc. is to provide mobility by linking older adults to services and resources so they can live as independently as possible while remaining integral members of our community.

Volunteers help adults, ages 62 and older, maintain their independence and stay in their own homes for as long as it is safe to do so. Primary services include:

  • Escorted transportation to medical appointments
  • Errand and shopping assistance
  • Friendly visitation and telephone reassurance
  • Reading/writing and help with paperwork

Created in January 2003 through a merger of the decade-old Seniors’ Interfaith Resource Center (SIRC) and the Allied Silver Spring Interfaith Services for Seniors Today (ASSISST), The Senior Connection carries on the work of these well established organizations by providing free and reliable services to older residents of Montgomery County, Maryland. Both of the parent organizations were created following the model established by the Faith in Action movement of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Today, The Senior Connection remains committed to that model through its membership in the Faith in Action National Network.

The Senior Connection relates to other providers of senior services in the DC Metropolitan area and is a proud member of The Grassroots Organization for the Well-being of Seniors (GROWS).

While The Senior Connection does not charge for services, Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services, Aging and Disability Services; private Foundations; faith communities; corporations; and individuals, value and support our efforts.
